Half Day Luxor East Bank Karnak and Luxor Temples
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will visit the massive temple complexes on the eastern bank of the Nile, starting with the Karnak temple complex. At Karnak you will explore a vast mix of temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings in various states of decay. Construction at the complex began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continued into the Ptolemaic period, so the site spans roughly 2,000 years of history. The complex is the largest temple in Egypt and covers about 62 acres, offering a wide-ranging impression of ancient religious architecture. You will also see Luxor Temple, an example of cultural continuity where different traditions have coexisted. Inside the temple there are several religious sites, including a mosque and a church, that illustrate this unity of cultures. As you move through both locations, you will encounter layers of history and a variety of religious and architectural features that reflect Egypt’s long past.
