Giza Pyramids, Memphis and Sakkara

Overview

On this excursion you will visit the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus and walk around the site of the Great Sphinx, which dates back to the time of Chephren. As you move through the plateau you will also see the Valley Temple and learn about the monuments that shaped ancient Egyptian royal funerary practice. You will continue to the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure, built in the 3rd Dynasty for King Djoser. After time for lunch at a local restaurant, the trip will proceed to Memphis, the city founded by King Menes and the first capital of Egypt. Memphis was the political and cultural centre of Egypt during the Old Kingdom for over 3,000 years; here you will see the Statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of Memphis.
