Esna and EL kab Day trip from Luxor

Overview

Your Gotoegypttours guide will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel in Luxor and accompany you to the temple of Esna. The temple is dedicated to the triad of Khnum, Neith and their offspring Heka, and the site is notable for its carved reliefs. Its origins go back to the reign of Thutmose III (1493–1479 BC), and you will also see remains from the Greco‑Roman town of Latopolis. You will continue about 30 km further south to El Kab, where a group of rock‑cut tombs from the early 18th Dynasty (1550–1295 BC) stands on the east bank of the Nile at the mouth of Wadi Hillal. At El Kab you will visit the tomb of Ahmose, son of Ibana, which contains important biographical accounts about the expulsion of the Hyksos by the early 18th‑Dynasty kings. Other notable tombs at the site include those of Pahery and Renni, dating to the reign of Thutmose III, whose interior decorations are among the most beautiful there. After the visit, your guide will transfer you back to your hotel in Luxor.
