Day Trip to Luxor from Cairo by Air

Overview

You will travel from your hotel in Cairo to Cairo Airport and fly to Luxor, where a local representative will meet you. The day explores some of ancient Egypt’s most famous sites, beginning at Karnak Temple, the vast complex dedicated to the god Amun, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. As you move through the ruins, you will see towering columns and monumental avenues that show why Karnak was central to worship in pharaonic times. Along the way you will visit Luxor Temple, including its courtyard and the granite statue of Ramses II, and pass along the Avenue of the Sphinxes. On the west bank you will explore the Valley of the Kings, home to many decorated royal tombs, and the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the most prominent female pharaoh. You will also see the Colossi of Memnon, the two gigantic statues associated with Amenhotep III. Lunch will be served during your trip. At the end of the day you will be driven to Luxor Airport for your return flight to Cairo.
