Cairo Discovery Day: Discovering Ancient Marvels

Overview

This full-day tour explores Cairo, often called the City of a Thousand Minarets. You will travel in air-conditioned comfort, admiring views of Cairo’s streets and accompanied by a private Egyptologist guide who will explain the city’s history as you move between sites. Your guide will take you to the Giza Plateau to see the Pyramids of Giza and explore the mortuary temples of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Along the way you will learn about theories of how the pyramids were built and hear the stories behind their legends. You will also visit the Great Sphinx, the giant reclining statue with a lion’s body and the face of Pharaoh Khafre. After a break for lunch, you will continue into central Cairo to discover the artefacts at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. You can also choose to add a Nile River cruise and a camel ride to your tour when booking. There are options to visit the Saqqara Pyramids and the Cairo Citadel and more, if you prefer to include additional sites.
