This was a great opportunity to see local birds in unconventional places along the roadside. Mohamed was knowledgeable and focused to make this a good experience to see a wide variety of birds. The flamingos were a sight to behold in the Qaroun Protected Area. We ended the experience with fresh squeezed juice at a local restaurant before the drive back to Giza.

Be warned, this is not a birdwatching tour. We were expecting a tour to see the birds of Fayoum with a guide knowledgeable of the birds of the area. Unfortunately our guide had no knowledge of the birds, he only knew a few of the sites that the tour is supposed to stop at for birds. We were given a paper with a few birds found in the area that is full of errors. We were told to tell the guide when we wanted to stop along the way to look for birds.
