My guide Ehad G. really kew his stuff and I got a good understanding of the dynastic line of the pharaohs in short order. It was an exciting start to my trip to Egypt to see the ruins at Fayoum. I just wish I could have sent a bit more time there. The waterfalls is not a natural formation but rather part of the local irrigation system so in that respect a bit underwhelming as was the boat ride on the lake. But it's a local attraction and great for seeing how average Egyptians enjoy themselves. Lunch was pleasant with a good view from a terrace. You have absolute security the whole time as you

Did not go to primary site on tour, possibly due to security problems. Tour guide kept trying to convince us to recommend him directly instead of through Viator

Henry was our excellent guide on our trip to the Fayoum area which is about 80 km south west of Cairo. Away from the hustle and bustle of Cairo we could appreciate the comparative peace and quiet of the area as well as the many impressive attempts to conserve the flora and fauna of the region. We visited the lakes of Wadi el-Rayan and its impressive waterfalls before enjoying a short boat trip with a local fisherman enabling us to observe at close quarters several of its many species of bird life. But we also learnt a lot about the history of the region by visiting the ancient site of Karanis
