Cairo & Pyramids — Day Trip from Sharm by Flight

This is Egypt's two most famous places folded into a single long day. You leave Sharm early for the short flight to Cairo, where a guide and private car are waiting. First to Giza, where the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure rise straight out of the plateau; you have time at the panorama point for the classic wide shot of all three, and down by the valley temple you come face to face with the Great Sphinx. After lunch you head into central Cairo for the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, the century-old home of Tutankhamun's gold and room after room of statuary, sarcophagi and everyday objects from thousands of years of Nile life. Your guide picks out what matters in each place so the collection doesn't blur together. Flights, entrance tickets, lunch and all transfers are arranged as one package, and you are back at your Sharm hotel the same night. It is an early start and a full day of flying and driving, but few day trips anywhere pack in this much, and it turns the pyramids from a someday plan into something you can do from the Red Sea coast.
