Dendera was an absolute “must see” when travelling in that region! The colours inside the temple were amazing and the carvings on the outside walls were incredible. You can also go up onto the roof. It also has the advantage of being a lot less crowded than many of the other temples we visited so making it a more pleasurable experience. We were a party of 10 and we travelled in a rather old minivan (very unlike the modern clean vehicle we had had on another Viator tour a couple of days before) with seatbelts that we had to dig out from under seat covers – not a good start. This was a great tour with an energetic, experienced guide. Dr. Michael (an Egyptologist finishing his PhD) has incredible in depth knowledge of Dendera which he wove together with Egyptian history and myth to really make the experience come alive. He also modified the itinerary to add Abydos even with a tight timeline and explained further history there. Seeing both temples and comparing the art, history, architecture and mythology around them was a fascinating experience and a highlight of my time in Egypt. Our driver Ala was also fantastic. I booked a private car from Luxor to Dendera Temple, and the service was excellent. The car was very new and clean, and the driver drove smoothly and safely the whole way. The tour company manager even called to confirm that I had gotten on the car, which made me feel well taken care of.

We had a wonderful visit to Dendera temple during our stay in Luxor. Our driver was right on time and the ride was very comfortable in a modern, impeccably clean, air-conditioned SUV. Dendera Temple was one of the highlights of our visit to Luxor, I would definitely try to get there (and it's far less busy than many of the sites Luxor sites). Highly recommend!

If the fast road is open only takes 45 min to 1 hr by car so easy half day. Temple to my fav god Hathor. Spectacular ceilings, preserved with colour as are some of the columns. Unique carvings not found elsewhere showing offerings of baked goods, the mummification process and the horoscope signs we still use today. Car was new and comfortable and guide and driver were pleasant but they did spend a lot of time on their phones.

This was a last-minute decision, and I’m glad we chose Aladdin and his team to take us to Dendera. Aladdin contacted me past midnight, right after I completed the booking on Viator. They pick you up from anywhere in Luxor, so I was able to choose the most convenient location. We arrived a few minutes early, and our driver Yousef was already there. He is an excellent driver, and we were able to communicate without any major issues, even though he speaks just a little English.
