Day boats, snorkel trips or a liveaboard
A daily dive trip runs two dives at nearby reefs and is back by late afternoon — the standard option from every resort. Snorkelling boats head to the Giftun islands, Orange Bay or Mahmya with reef stops and beach time. For the famous offshore sites — the Thistlegorm wreck, the Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone — you need a liveaboard, a multi-day dive boat that sleeps aboard.

Liveaboard or day boat?
Day boats suit most travellers and reach plenty of reefs from shore each morning. A liveaboard is for experienced divers who want the offshore sites (Thistlegorm, Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone, St John's) that day boats can't reach, diving three to four times a day across a week.
