This half-day safari trades the beach for the Eastern Desert, timed so you cross the dunes in the golden late-afternoon light and end the evening under the stars. You set off from your Hurghada hotel by 4x4 jeep, bumping inland over sand tracks and low rocky hills, with a stop to watch the sun drop behind the desert and turn everything copper and pink. At a Bedouin village you climb aboard a camel for a short ride, then sit for sweet Bedouin tea and a look at how desert families live away from the coast. As the light fades you gather at a desert camp for a barbecue dinner and a folklore show, with tanoura spinning and music around the fire.
