Luxor Day Trips from Hurghada

The Luxor day trip is the single most-booked tour in Egypt's Red Sea catalogue, and for good reason. The drive is about four hours each way, so tours leave before dawn and return after dark, but the payoff is the greatest concentration of ancient monuments on earth.

A well-built day covers both banks of the Nile: the Valley of the Kings with its painted royal tombs, the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank, and the vast Karnak complex, sometimes with Luxor Temple, on the East Bank. The best tours include the Tutankhamun tomb, which carries a separate ticket.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if Luxor is your only chance to see the Valley of the Kings and Karnak, since they beat another day by the pool. But it is a long day in transit, so book the small-group option for a better pace, and if your schedule allows, an overnight in Luxor is far less rushed.
