This experience brings you to the Salah El Din Citadel, a defensive complex constructed in 1183 AD. Inside the castle you will see the Mohamed Ali Mosque, built in the 19th century, and get a sense of the site’s layered history and architecture. You will also tour Old Cairo, the area that pre-dated the city of Cairo itself. There you will encounter many historic churches and a Roman fort, reflecting the long and varied past of the neighbourhood. Along the way you will have opportunities to explore these key monuments and take in the contrasting styles and periods they represent.
