You will begin at the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum in the world. Inside, you will explore its vast spaces and the archaeological collections it houses, putting Egypt’s ancient past into a modern museum context. As you move through the galleries, you will get a broad sense of the scale and significance of Egypt’s material heritage. After the museum visit, you will go to the west district of Giza Governorate to explore the Giza Plateau. There you will see the massive structures that belong to the great pharaohs of the Old Kingdom. Walking the plateau, you will encounter the monumental architecture and landscape that defined royal power in ancient Egypt and gain a clearer sense of how these sites relate to the objects and displays you viewed earlier at the museum.
