Your tour guide will be waiting for you, holding a sign with the company name. You do not need to look for them — they will be waiting and will find you. You will start at the Egyptian Museum, which houses more than 250,000 pieces and a rare collection of Egyptian art spanning over 5,000 years. As you move through the displays, you will visit the Tutankhamen room to see the treasure, jewellery and gold items that were enclosed in his tomb more than 3,500 years before it was discovered during excavation in 1920. After the museum, you will visit the Citadel of Salah El Din, built by Salah El Din on the Moqattam hills in 1183 AD to defend Cairo from Crusader armies. Along the way you will also see the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, designed by the architect Yousif Boushnaq, a Turkish architect who came from Istanbul to build the mosque for Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt from 1805 to 1849, who ruled for over 45 years. The tour will end with your return to your hotel.
