This experience takes you through two of Cairo’s most historic areas, giving you a close look at how the city grew over centuries. You will be able to see Islamic Cairo, once one of the power centres of the Islamic Empire, with its beautiful mosques and the surrounding streets. As you move through Al Azhar and the Khan El Khalili area, you will encounter what served as the geographical and symbolic centre of medieval Cairo. You will also be able to see Coptic Cairo, the heartland of Egypt’s indigenous Christian community. Its quieter, more peaceful spaces reveal layers of history and a different side of the city’s past. Taken together, these neighbourhoods offer a clear sense of Cairo’s diverse cultural and historical landscape, showing how religious and civic life shaped the city across time.
