Overview

Two guided dives on the Red Sea reefs that made Hurghada a diving destination in the first place. This is a trip for certified divers — you'll need your card and logbook — heading out from the marina by boat to sheltered coral sites in the bay. Beneath the surface the walls drop away into gardens of hard and soft coral in improbable colours, patrolled by clouds of anthias, parrotfish and butterflyfish, with the chance of moray eels, groupers, lionfish and passing turtles. A qualified dive guide leads each dive in a small group, matching the site and depth to the conditions and the group's experience, with a surface interval on board between the two. Tanks, weights and the boat are all included; bring your certification and, if you prefer, your own mask and computer. Between dives there's lunch on board and time to dry off in the sun as the boat repositions for the second site. Transfers from Hurghada hotels are arranged, and the whole trip runs about six hours door to door. It's a straightforward, well-run way to log two quality Red Sea dives without committing to a full liveaboard — the reef, the boat and the guide sorted, so you just dive.
