Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Giza Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. At the plateau you’ll see the Great Sphinx — a pharaoh’s head on a lion’s body that dates from the time of Chephren — and you’ll also visit the Valley Temple that belongs to Chephren’s pyramid. Along the way your guide will share context about these ancient monuments and their place in Egypt’s history. You’ll then visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly known as the Egyptian Museum, which houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities spanning some 5,000 years of art and is considered one of the most important collections of Egyptian art in the world. After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to Old Cairo, where you’ll visit the Hanging Church, Abu Serga Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue as you explore this historically rich district. The route is designed to give a broad view of Cairo’s ancient sites, its museum treasures and its historic religious landmarks.
