This day tour takes you to the stunning temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, two distinctive ancient sites along the Nile. At Edfu you will visit the temple on the west bank of the river in the town of Edfu. You will see one of the rare religious temples located on the west bank and learn that it was dedicated to the god Horus. As you move through the site, the temple’s scale and its connection to Horus will be clear from the surviving architecture and layout. Kom Ombo will present a very different experience because of its unique construction plan. The temple is divided into two parts, designed to serve two gods: Horus and Sobek, the crocodile. You will explore how the building’s split layout reflects this dual dedication and notice features tied to each deity. Together, the visits will give you a direct look at two contrasting approaches to temple design and worship along the Nile, highlighting both the singular dedication at Edfu and the divided, dual-purpose plan at Kom Ombo.
