On this private Nile Delta day trip from Cairo, you will travel into the delta to visit two often-overlooked archaeological sites. At Tell-Basta’s site of Bubastis you will see the remains of an ancient city that was dedicated to the cat god Bastet. Along the way at Bubastis you will learn about the city’s association with feline worship and the role cats played in its religious life. You will then move on to Tanis, at San El-Hagar, where you will explore the ruins and the royal tombs of an ancient capital. As you walk through the site, you will encounter the architectural remains and burial areas that mark Tanis’s historical importance. The experience focuses on onsite exploration and the stories behind these lesser-known Delta sites, giving you a closer look at their archaeological and cultural significance.
