Overview

You will visit the Valley of the Kings in Luxor City and spend time at the Karnak Temples as part of this experience. In the Valley of the Kings you’ll explore ancient burial sites cut into the rock. As you move through the area, you’ll see decorated chambers, hieroglyphs and the kinds of tomb architecture used by pharaonic rulers, and you’ll learn about the beliefs and practices surrounding their burials. At the Karnak Temples you’ll walk around a large temple complex with monumental gateways, open courtyards and rows of stone columns. Along the way you’ll gain a sense of how the site developed over centuries and see the architectural features and inscriptions that reflect its religious and historical significance. The pace allows time to absorb both the funerary landscape of the Valley and the ritual environment of Karnak, giving a rounded view of ancient Egypt’s royal and temple traditions.
