You will visit the complex of Dendera, a site whose buildings and monuments were constructed over many eras, including the Middle Kingdom, the Ptolemaic era and the period characterised by Roman provincial rule. As you explore the complex, you will encounter archaeological layers that reflect those different periods and gain a sense of how the site developed over time. Later you will travel to Abydos to see the Temple of Seti I, also known as the Great Temple of Abydos. The temple, built by King Seti I, is one of the principal monuments at Abydos. At the rear of the temple you will find the Osireion, an important related structure. Along the way you will observe the contrast between the monumental architecture of Abydos and the long, multi-era development visible at Dendera.
