This full-day tour takes you through the Sakkara necropolis, an open book of ancient Egyptian history. You will be accompanied by a professional guide who will explain how Sakkara served as a burial ground from the Early Dynastic period, became the main cemetery of the Old Kingdom, and continued in use through Greco-Roman times. As you move through the site, you’ll explore a large group of pyramids and tombs in one visit. Highlights include the Step Pyramid of King Zoser and the pyramids of King Unas and King Titi. You will also see several notable tombs, such as the Tomb of Ti (Fifth Dynasty), the Mastaba of Kagemni, the Tomb of Ankh Mahor (the Physicians tomb) and the Mastaba of Mereruka. Along the way, your guide will point out architectural details and historical context, helping you piece together how these monuments reflect different periods of ancient Egyptian burial practice.
