On this private tour with a NASCO Tours representative, you will explore two of Cairo’s most important cultural areas. Your first stop is the Egyptian Museum in the heart of Tahrir Square. The museum is a distinctive building created to house one of the world’s oldest collections of Pharaonic art and monuments. It occupies about 13,600 square metres and has more than 100 exhibition halls, where you will see an extensive range of artefacts spanning Egypt’s ancient civilisations. After the museum, you will head to Coptic Cairo in Old Cairo, an area that contains the Babylon Fortress and several historic churches and sites. As you move through Coptic Cairo you will visit the Coptic Museum, the Hanging Church and the Greek Church of St. George, among other Coptic churches and historical landmarks. Coptic Cairo was a stronghold for Christianity in Egypt both before and during the Islamic era, with many of its churches built after the Muslim conquest in the 7th century. The experience concludes with a return to your hotel, leaving you with a deeper understanding of Egypt’s pharaonic and Christian heritage.
