Описание

Your representative will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the best preserved Temple of Edfu, built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC. As you move through the site, you’ll see extensive wall inscriptions that supply important information about language, myth and religion in the Hellenistic period in Egypt. The temple’s inscribed building texts offer details of its construction and preserve material about the mythical interpretation of this — and other — temples as the Island of Creation. You will then proceed to Kom Ombo to visit the unusual double temple in the town, dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. Constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty (180–47 BC), the Temple of Kom Ombo also contains additions made later in the Roman period. Bottled water will be provided on the vehicle for the journey, and after your visits you will be returned to your hotel.
