On this Cairo city tour you will explore key parts of the city’s long history. At the Egyptian Museum you will spend time with the museum’s Ancient Egypt displays, learning about Egypt’s past through its collections and exhibits. You will then visit the medieval Salah El Din Citadel and the Mohamed Ali Mosque, where you can see notable examples of historic military and religious architecture. As you move through Old Cairo, the area that pre-dated modern Cairo, you will tour streets and sites that reflect earlier layers of the city. The visit includes historic churches and Roman sites, giving a sense of the different communities and eras that have shaped the area. Along the way you will have opportunities to observe architecture and landmarks that illustrate Cairo’s diverse past.
