You’ll spend the day exploring some of Egypt’s most famous ancient sites, beginning at the Giza Plateau where you will see the Great Pyramids of Giza — Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos. At the same location you can get a close-up look at the Sphinx and take in the scale and craftsmanship of these iconic monuments. As you move on, you will travel to Sakkara, about 27 km southwest of Cairo, to visit the Step Pyramid built for King Zoser and learn about the earlier phases of pyramid construction. The tour continues to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, where you will see the archaeological remains that recall the city’s historical importance. Along the way you will follow a coherent route through Egypt’s early dynastic and Old Kingdom sites, giving you a compact view of how funerary architecture and royal cities evolved.
