You will follow the movie Journey of the Holy Family as it portrays the family’s movements across Egypt. The film begins at Raphia (Rafah) and continues for another 44 kilometres beyond that point. After almost two days of travelling, you will see them reach Wadi Al-Arish, where they are shown finding enough safety to obtain food and shelter. The journey then moves into the Nile Delta, with a stop at the city of Musturod, only about 10 kilometres from Cairo, where the 12th-century church known as “The Virgin Lady” is depicted. Along the way, the film takes you to Al-Mataraya district near Ein Shams (Old Heliopolis). You will be shown the sycamore tree that came to be called “Mariam’s Tree,” a place that has attracted religious visitors. The movie also presents the tradition that the holy “Mayron oil,” or the “Chrism,” is prepared from the oil of that tree. An ancient church in the area, referred to as “The Virgin Mary,” is included in these scenes, giving context to the local sites connected with the story.
