See the whole of Egypt in an afternoon at Mini Egypt Park, Hurghada's open-air museum of the country's greatest monuments rebuilt in miniature. Laid out along shaded walkways, the park brings together scale models of the landmarks you would otherwise cross the country to reach: the Giza pyramids and Sphinx, the temples of Karnak and Luxor, Hatshepsut's terraces, Abu Simbel, the Cairo Citadel and more, each crafted in careful detail and set among gardens and water features. It is a relaxed, genuinely family-friendly outing, easy to walk and fun for children, and a neat way to get your bearings on Egypt's geography and history before or instead of the long excursions south. A guide walks you round, explaining what each monument is and where in the country it stands, so the models double as a quick tour of three thousand years of history. There is time to take photos, and the miniatures make for some playful forced-perspective shots. The visit takes around a couple of hours at an unhurried pace. Bring a hat and water, as much of the route is open to the sky, and a camera for the model-scale photos. Hotel pickup and drop-off from your Hurghada hotel are included.
