With a local guide and a private car, you start in El Dahar, the old quarter, wandering its bustling souk of spices, textiles and souvenirs and pausing at the twin landmarks that face each other across the old town — the elegant El Mina Mosque with its tall minarets and the Coptic Cathedral of Saint Shenouda. From there you follow the shore to Hurghada Marina, the town's smart waterfront of moored yachts, palm-lined promenade and cafes, a good spot for a coffee and photos of the boats. The finale is the Hurghada Grand Aquarium, a walk-through attraction where a glass tunnel and themed tanks bring you face to face with Red Sea and tropical marine life — sharks, rays, reef fish and more — a fun stop for families and a dry way to meet the creatures divers travel here to see.
